Mary Preus

Mary Preus loves reading, gardening, travel, music, good food, and paisley, not necessarily in that order. A Pacific Northwest native, she earned an English Literature degree from the University of Washington, then traveled the world for three years before starting an herb farm on the shores of Puget Sound. Her previous books include “The Northwest Herb Lover’s Garden,” “Growing Herbs,” “The Leek Cookbook,” and “A Little Book of Herbs for Cooking;” she’s now completed what she hopes will be her first published novel. She and her husband live and garden organically in Seattle.

The Northwest Herb Lover’s Handbook

“The soothing smell of lavender, rosemary's piney flavor, the bright colors of nasturtiums . . . herbs are wonderful things! In this handsome volume, Mary Preus provides a delightful entree into the world of herbs with detailed instructions on how to grow 50 of the most popular herbs and create an herbal lifestyle. Easy and delicious recipes, herbal crafts and gifts, landscaping with herbs traditional and modern medicinal use, aromatherapy—it’s all here in The northwest Herb Lover’s Handbook.”
